On May 5, 2025, Governor Kevin Stitt signed a new law that bans student cell phone use during the school day across Oklahoma. This legislation is designed to reduce distractions, support student mental health, and improve academic outcomes.
What Does This Mean for Ardmore City Schools?
Ardmore City Schools is currently working to develop a district policy that aligns with the new state law.
This local policy will:
⚠️Clearly outline expectations for students
⚠️Define any allowable use cases (such as emergencies or specific learning activities)
⚠️Include enforcement procedures to ensure consistency across campuses
Implementation Timeline : Our draft policy will be finalized and presented for approval at the July 2025 Board of Education meeting. The policy will go into effect at the start of the 2025–2026 school year.
We’ll continue to share updates with families as more details become available. Thank you for partnering with us to create a focused and supportive learning environment for all Ardmore students.
